Meet James A. Winslow Jr.
Bishop James A. Winslow, Jr., a community leader, fair and honest businessman, and a positive leader who holds the interest of the people in high regard, has always envisioned building a church that serves the community and a community that serves the Lord. He has been the driving force behind ministries designed to meet both the spiritual and practical needs of the people. Among them, the “Boys in the Neighborhood” program, launched in 1987, teaches the Gospel by modeling integrity and faith to young men.
His vision includes the acquisition and development of the entire 1900 block of Belair Road. The plan features a youth center, live broadcast studio for radio and television, Christian bookstore, shelters for the homeless and battered women and children, an academic center, daycare, and the expansion of the Helping Hands food pantry—ministries dedicated to healing and transformation.
He was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel on April 19, 1987, and installed as Pastor in 1988. He graduated from the Baltimore School of the Bible in June 1997 and later earned an A.A. Degree in Theology from Logos Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida. In March 1992, he received the Diamond Award for outstanding community service, and in 2009, he received the Newsome Gospel Music Award. He became a BMe Fellow in 2015 and was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama, in addition to citations from the Mayor of Baltimore and various political leaders.
In May 2025, Bishop Winslow received an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism from Global International Alliance, recognizing his decades of service and leadership both locally and abroad. In May 2025, Bishop Winslow received an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism from Global International Alliance, recognizing his decades of service and leadership both locally and abroad. Just a few months later, on August 21, 2025, he was honored at the UniverSoul Circus during Pastoral United Night for his tireless dedication to ministry and community service.
He has served on the Board of Men Impact Change and Health Resources Collaboration Communities since 2018. In 2019, he was inducted into Ark United Christian Community Churches International (AUCCCI) under Bishop C. Anthony Muse, his spiritual father. He was elevated within AUCCCI in 2020 to the Executive Board and appointed Bishop of Fiscal Affairs.
Bishop Winslow wears many hats—he’s a skilled carpenter, licensed HVAC technician, musician, bus driver, and a dynamic preacher. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, he met his wife, Author and Pastor Nancy R. Lightner Winslow, in 1980. Together they had two daughters, Roshecca (1982–1992) and JeCole (Winslow) Edwards, and two sons, Dominic Winslow and Cornelius Jefferson, and are blessed with five grandchildren: Malachi Smythe, Dominic and Dominique Winslow, and two whom he is raising—Zian and Jinard Edwards.
On August 1, 2004, God birthed Power House World Ministries through Bishop Winslow. It is a ministry focused on healing, liberty, and the power of the Holy Spirit at work through the five-fold ministry. He now serves as Overseer of twelve churches across England, Germany, and the United States.
