2017  -  The Year of God's Glory

Bishop James A. Winslow, Jr.

Praise God to whom all blessings flow!  Spring is fastly approaching and we have accomplished so much in 2016 that it has created a spring board into 2017.  Our digital technology lab is up and running.  It is the home to our GED Program, and Computer Literacy Classes.  Our Cyber Security and Website building Courses will be in operation soon.  We are happy to announce that we have partnered with Baltimore City Community College and are excited with the services that they are providing.  I encourage the people to take full advantage of these  service because they are free.  We have completed the fencing in the rear of God's Little Lambs Learning Center.  These are the three properties 1911-1915 Belair Road.  These three buildings will be dedicated to Roshecca Winslow, Russell and Mattie Lane and Thomas Hairston, we have already begun construction on the inside.  I would like to take this time to thank our partners, we would not  have been able to accomplish these things without your support.

On March 18, 2017 I will be hosting our Third Annual Bishop's and Pastor's Summit.  There are lots of things that we as a people of God are confronted with and have to deal with in our churches.  God is allowing us to come together as one body that we may strategically plan how to resolve these issues, people in churches are dealing with all kinds of medical issues such as  drug dependency, pain medication whether legal or illegal, sleep apnea, depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.  These are just a few of some of the issues that we have to deal with.  They are not popular conversations.

Resource Connect is another facility that deals with Opiate abuse and we are happy to begin a dialog with them to secure a partnership.  The Bible says that once you are strengthened, go back and strengthen your brother (Luke 22:21).  This is what Power House is all about.  We are going into our community to strengthen our brothers and sisters.

I am looking forward to working with Veteran  Affairs so we can see how we can help the veterans in our community to secure the proper benefits that they deserve.  I have been in touch with Ms. Denise Spice and she is excited about the vision that PHWM has.  I would also like to thank Digital All City for donating all the computer equipment for our digital technology lab.  Mr. Lance Lucas and his team are to be commended of the job that they have provided for us.  Our Digital Technology Lab could not have come into fruition without them.  Raoul Edwards, Mino Tech Solutions install the network and provided the electrical components that was needed to run our computers.  All of these services were volunteered.  Just Auto donated the projector.  So as you can see, our partnership base God has blessed us with all of them and we pray that God will continue to anoint these great men and women in every endeavor that they venture into.  I would like to thank Mrs. Pamela Dukes for I am Standing By Grace and Mr. Kevin Watkins for the program Another Chance, Ms. Mary Sue of Resource Connect and Blind Industries.  These are just a few of the people who makeup and attend our services Sunday after Sunday.  If there are any other programs that are looking for a church that cares and are concerned and you need transportation, please give us a call.

Turn the hearts of the children back to the fathers as the heart of the fathers have been turned back to the children.

CHANGE

Welcome to our new Web site.  We've changed our look to reflect a site that is user friendly, more comprehensive, as well as, informative and resourceful.  Many people have problems adjusting to change, but change is inevitable, and unavoidable.  Change is a representation of who God is and what He does.  Although the Bible states that God Himself never changes, He is constantly and forever changing the world, world leaders and us (His creation), whether we be saved or unsaved.

One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to change us to be more like Jesus, compassionate, loving, and everything that He is.  It’s a change that does not take place over night.  Sometimes, we are changed in a second, others times it may take months, even years.

Sometimes change is drastic, other times it’s subtle and very slow.  Sometimes it’s seen and sometimes it happens and we never knew exactly when it happened.  As a matter of fact, CHANGE IS TAKING PLACE RIGHT NOW!  Don’t you recognize it?  What does the bible say about change.  First, change cannot come before it's time.  Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”  Second, the only One who can change us is the Lord Jesus Christ, no man has power to change himself.  2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  Many have tried to change themselves, but the change could not withstand the test of time, and therefore escaped because it had no power to stand.  Lastly, change will spring forth like a budding seed planted in the ground and spring forth in its season and become something new in us and for us.   Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

What is wilderness (“make a way in the wilderness”).  The wilderness is an uninhabited and uncultivated place.  In a spiritual sense, it is a place where good or truth have not been joined together.  (Swedenborg 1688-1772).  It is a place that produces temptation, hunger, fear, isolation, and intense experiences.  The joining or merging of good and truth is joined together by the thread of the “way” that God has promised to put in the wilderness.  Jesus said “I am the “way” the “truth” and the life."

Desert, what does it signify in the spirit, a place without vegetation, where life is difficult, the heat wages war against the soul of man, water is void, and the spirit of the man surrenders to a monastic way of life.  He pursues spiritual devotion in an attempt to reach God, he is desperate with a deep desire to live.  Strangely, he is not asking for a house, a car, money or anything, but a drink of water to quench his insatiated thirst, because he wants to live.   God says (“I will put rivers in the desert”). John 7:38 (“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his belly (heart/soul/inner most being), will flow rivers of living water.”)

No matter what translation you read, Isaiah 43:19 relays the same message.

  1. The Bible in Basic English,   Isaiah 43:19 (BBE)  See, I am doing a new thing; now it is starting; will you not take note of it? I will even make a way in the waste land, and rivers in the dry country.

  2. The Complete Jewish Bible,  Isaiah 43:19 (CJB) I am doing something new; it's springing up - can't you see it? I am making a road in the desert, rivers in the wasteland.

  3. The Darby Translation, Isaiah 43:19 (DBY) behold, I do a new thing; now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the waste.

  4. English Standard Version, Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)  Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

  5. Hebrew Names Version, Isaiah 43:19 (HNV)  Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

  6. King James Version w/ Apocrypha, Isaiah 43:19 (KJVA)  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth ; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

  7. Lexham English Bible, Isaiah 43:19 (LEB)  Look! I [am] about to do a new thing! Now it sprouts! Do you not perceive it? Indeed, I will {make} a way in the wilderness, rivers in [the] desert.

  8. New International Version, Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)  See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

  9. New Living Translation, Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)  For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

  10. New Revised Standard w/ Apocrypha, Isaiah 43:19 (NRSA)  I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

  11. Orthodox Jewish Bible, Yeshayah 43:19 (OJB)  Hineni, I am doing a chadashah (new thing); now titzmach (it shall spring forth; Tzemach); shall ye not perceive it? I will even make a derech (path) in the midbar (wilderness), and neharot (river) in the desert.

  12. Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible, Isaiah 43:19 (RHE)  Behold I do new things, and now they shall spring forth, verily you shall know them: I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Change and Freedom means taking "the way" (Jesus) that God has made in the wilderness (the USA), and drinking from "the river" (The Bible) in the desert (USA).

Translation:  God has made His Word (Jesus) free and available for everyone in the "Free World" the USA, Change and Freedom will not come from whoever is in the White House, it only comes to those who read it and believe it, they will never be thirsty again.

On Sundays and Mondays, at Genesis Healthcare , you will hear singing, worshipping, praising, and laughter. You will see joy, peace, dancing, and smiles on the residents ,as well as, the staff.

Power House World Ministries has been serving and been in   partnership with Genesis Healthcare for several years.  As a pastor part of my duty and responsibility is to reach as many people as possible in sharing the Word of God.  Mark 16:15 “And He said to them Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.”  We are so filled with the love of God and His blessings that we cannot keep it from them.  Mathew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo I am with you always, even to the end of age.” We are to go out sharing the Word of God and spreading the truth of His good works so that everyone may know.  No matter where He leads us, we will never have to doubt that His presence is with us. We have a big chance to bring others to Him by helping them to eternal bliss in Heaven. At Power House World Ministries we are passionate about spreading the Word, as He commanded us.  Bishop James  A. Winslow, Jr. and Power House World Ministries will continue serving the community of Genesis Healthcare because we are obligated to love and share the Word.!

God Doesn't Force Himself on Anyone.

Jesus was teaching effectively and wisely, but the people of his home town saw him as only a carpenter.  "He's no better than we are, he's just a laborer", they said.  They were offended that others could be impressed by him and followed Him.  they rejected His authority because He was one of their peers.  They thought they knew Him, but their preconceived notions about who He was made it impossible for them to accept His message.  Don't let prejudice blind you to the truth.  As you learn more about Jesus, try to see Him for who He truly is.  Jesus said that a prophet (in other words, a worker of God) is never honored in his hometown.  But that doesn't make his any less important.  A person doesn't need to be respected or honored to be useful to God.  If friends, neighbors, or family don't respect your Christian work, don't let their rejection keep you from servicing God.  Jesus could have done greater miracles in Nazareth, but he chose not to because of the people's pride and unbelief.  The miracles he did had little effect on the people because they did not accept His message or believe that He was from God.  Therefore, Jesus looked elsewhere, seeking those who would respond to His miracles and message.

The disciples were sent out in pairs.  Individually they could have reached more areas in the country, but this was not Christ's plan.  One advantage in going out two by two was that they could strengthen and encourage each other, especially when they faced rejection.  Our strength comes from God, He sometimes meet our needs through teamwork with others.  As you serve Christ, don't try to go at it alone.  Mark records that the disciples were instructed to take nothing wit them except staffs, while in Matthew and Luke accounts Jesus told them not to take staffs.  One explanation is that Matthew and Luke were referring to a club used for protection, whereas mark was talking about a shepherd's crook.  In any case, the point in all three accounts is the same - the disciples were to leave at once, without extensive preparation, trusting in God's care rather than their own resources.  Pious Jews shook the durst from their feet after passing through Gentile cities or territory to show their separation from Gentile influence and practices.  When the disciples shook the dust from their feet after leaving a Jewish town, it was a vivid sign that they wished to remain separate from people who had rejected Jesus and His message.  Jesus made it clear tat the listeners were responsible for what they did with the gospel.  The disciples were not to blame if the message was rejected, as long as they had faithfully and carefully presented it.  We are not responsible when others reject Christ's message of salvation, but we have the responsibility to share the Gospel clearly and faithfully.

God Bless, Rev. Rochester.

Trusting God is a hard thing to do, especially when you were depending on your own pay check to pay your mortgage and its not enough and the bank is about to foreclose on your home.  The natural part of us would begin to worry and come up with a plan to keep this from happening.  The funny thing is that, when we do that, things never work out the way we plan.  That's when we get frustrated and start blaming others and sometimes God.  Before you try to fix the problem yourself, acknowledge God and trust Him even when it don't look good.  Just something to think about.

God Bless You!

God is Up To Something!

Peace & Blessings to our Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

It's a pleasure and honor to be able to share this moment with you.  As we reflect on what's going on around us in our communities and in our country, I wan to remind you that God is still good.  It doesn't matter what it looks like, or what it appears to be, God is up to something.  As a body of believers let's not loose the faith.  Regardless of who sits in the White House, remember our God still sits on The Throne! (That's good news).  Listen, be encouraged and don't allow stuff around you to make you forget the substance inside of you.  This is the time for the Body of Christ to get excited.  Let me just remind you that the same God who did it back then, is the same God who can do it again.  Let me close wit this, I still believe God is up to something!

Be Blessed!

Elder Dorothy Godwin

(Church Administrator)

These are the times that try men's souls.  People are running to church weeping and tired of living in the life style of sin and want a change in life.  Many are being saved and Satan is mad but Heaven is rejoicing.  Now your test really begins.  Satan will be throwing everything at you to make you turn around.  Remember your trials and tribulations is what makes you strong and God has your back.  You are being tried to come out as pure gold.  Remember Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, they held on to their faith when they were put in the fiery furnace, they came out victorious because they believed and knew God would not fail them.  Remember prayer is the key that unlocks the door and faith and hope is the way to Victory.  Remember, God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1Cor. 10:13).  When you need Him, just call Him, He'll be right there.  God Bless.
